Axiom's Shubhanshu Shukla to grow methi and moong daal in microgravity as India eyes cultivating food in Space

Indias science ambitions just got a lift—straight into space. With astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla on board Axiom Mission 4, ISRO and Indian research institutes are running seven in-depth experiments aboard the International Space Station. These range from crop seed growth and algae research to tardigrade survival and muscle degeneration. The mission, delayed from its original 22 June launch date, lays the groundwork for Indias own manned Gaganyaan programme and marks the countrys most research-intensive contribution to a global space mission to date.
