Boundaries of administrative units to be frozen on Dec 31, 2025 for Census

The Centre has directed states and Union Territories to finalize any administrative boundary changes by December 31, 2025, for the 2027 Census. This census, India's 16th and eighth post-independence, will include caste enumeration and be conducted digitally. Fieldwork will be carried out by 34 lakh enumerators and supervisors.
