Colombian guerrilla group ELN backs pact to fight US 'to defend the homeland'

Since September, US forces are believed to have killed more than 100 people in strikes on alleged trafficking boats in the Caribbean and Pacific. Colombia and Venezuela share a 2,200-kilometer (1,400-mile) border where various armed groups vie for control of the profits from drug trafficking, illegal mining, and smuggling.
