A study published in Nature warns that global warming could intensify monsoon rainfall in South Asia, disrupting marine productivity in the Bay of Bengal, a region that contributes significantly to global fishery output. Researchers examined fossilised plankton shells from 22,000 years ago and found that both unusually weak and strong monsoons led to ecosystem collapses.
