Host Fiona Bruce drew laughs from the BBC Question Time audience after pausing the debate to make a comment on Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Mr Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested by Thames Valley Police on 19 February on his 66th birthday, and questioned for 11 hours before he was released. He is accused of sharing confidential information with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein while acting as the UK’s trade envoy. As the panel debated if the monarchy was fit for purpose during Thursday’s (26 February) episode, Bruce stepped in to assert that Mr Mountbatten-Windsor has denied any wrongdoing, which drew laughs and sniggers from the crowd. “You may all laugh there but this is my duty and I have to say that,” she said. Mr Mountbatten-Windsor has routinely denied any wrongdoing in relation to his connections to Epstein.
