Haryana govt invokes Essential Services Maintenance Act to restrict doctors’ strike

The Haryana government has invoked the Essential Services Maintenance Act. This action prohibits Haryana Civil Medical Services doctors from striking for six months. The doctors are protesting two main issues. They want a revised assured career progression structure. They also oppose direct recruitment of Specialist Medical Officers. Over 3,000 doctors are involved.
