In show of support, Canada, France open consulates in Greenland

Canada and France are opening consulates in Nuuk, Greenland, as a strong show of support for the islands government and autonomy, in response to Donald Trumps past insistence on U.S. control of Greenland for strategic and mineral reasons. While Washington has eased its claims and established a U.S.-Denmark-Greenland working group on Arctic security, Greenland and Denmark maintain sovereignty as a “red line.”
