Is glacial snout detachment at over 6,000 m reason for Dharali disaster?

Authorities investigate the cause of the devastating flash flood in Uttarkashi. A glacial snout detachment upstream of Dharali is suspected. Heavy rains may have loosened debris, cascading it downstream. Glaciologist DP Dobhal suggests debris accumulation and river system contribution. Cloudburst and glacial lake outburst flood are ruled out. Satellite imagery is awaited for confirmation of the snout detachment.
