Japan and the US to discuss joint rare earths development

Seeking to curb dependence on China for the sediment that contains rare earths – extremely valuable minerals that can be used in everything from electric vehicles to missiles – Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi announced an upcoming discussion with US President Donald Trump to work out the specifics of their collaboration.
