Magnitude 6.1 earthquake hits Turkiye, buildings collapse

A strong 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck western Turkiyes Balikesir province late Monday, causing several previously damaged buildings to collapse but no reported deaths, officials said. The quake, centred in Sindirgi, occurred at 22:48 local time at a depth of nearly 6 kilometres and was felt across Istanbul, Bursa, Manisa and Izmir.
