Mount Etna, Europes most active volcano, erupted spectacularly on Monday, sending plumes of hot ash and rivers of molten lava cascading down its slopes in a dramatic display of natures power. Video shared earlier on the institute's Facebook page showed a massive plume of smoke and ash rising into the clear blue sky.
