SC seeks urgent removal of ex-CJI Chandrachud from official bungalow

The Supreme Court administration has asked the central government to vacate the official Chief Justice residence, stating that former CJI Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud has exceeded the permitted stay period and the bungalow must return to the courts housing pool, according to reports. Justice Chandrachud, who retired on November 10, 2024, stayed nearly eight months in the Type VIII bungalow, beyond the six-month grace period.
