SIR row: Mamata Banerjee to stage sit-in over voter roll deletions in West Bengal

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will begin a sit-in protest in Kolkata on Friday. The protest targets alleged arbitrary deletions from electoral rolls. This action precedes a visit by the Election Commission. The ruling party claims the deletions are politically motivated and could disenfranchise voters. Over 63 lakh names have been removed from the voter list.
