Telecom Department penalises Bharti Airtel for inadequate customer verification

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has fined Airtel Rs 101,000 for failing to adequately verify customer details. This penalty follows a Customer Application Form Audit in April, which found Airtel in violation of subscriber verification norms stipulated in their license agreement. Airtel has stated they will not contest or appeal the penalty and will pay the fine.
