The urgent need to lift sanctions against Syria

EDITORIAL. As he welcomes Syrian interim President Ahmed Al-Charaa on Monday, Donald Trump's commitment to a transition that is equal to the enormous challenges facing Syria should be applauded. However, for this transition to succeed, the new government in Damascus also needs the drastic sanctions imposed on it to be lifted as soon as possible.
