Sheriff John Budensiek, from the Martin County sheriff’s office, told reporters that Woods showed ‘signs of impairment’ after the crash near his home on Jupiter Island, which happened around 2pm local time. A black Range Rover SUV, which Woods was driving, had tried to overtake a truck which was pulling a pressure washer ‘at high speeds’ before it swerved and rolled onto its side. According to Budensiek, the driver of the truck ‘tried to edge off to the side of the road, but this is a small two-lane road and there was no shoulder for him to get off.’ Budensiek added: ‘As he was trying to move to the side, the Land Rover overtook him at the last minute, swerved to avoid a collision, but clipped the back end of the trailer. The vehicle then listed to the side and rolled onto the driver’s door north past the truck that had just avoided the crash.’ Woods climbed out of the passenger door of the Range Rover after the collision and did not appear to suffer any injuries. Investigators ​believe ⁠the impairment was drug or medication-related. In 2017, Woods was arrested for DUI after police found him in his car in Florida with five drugs in his system, including two painkillers.  He subsequently went to rehab for painkiller addiction.
