Train smashes into car after driver tries to rush over level crossing

A train crashed into a car on a level crossing in Taiwan after the driver tried to cross before the barrier had closed. Footage taken at the Qiu Maoyuan crossing just outside Tongxiao on the west coast of the island shows the barriers beginning to close. One barrier had already closed before a vehicle drove through, as the second barrier was lowered. The car is then trapped at the crossing because the gates on either side are closed. The driver exits the vehicle and tries to lift the barrier to get out before a train strikes the rear of the vehicle.
