What does the Supreme Court’s ruling on narco tests mean?

The Supreme Court has ruled that any forced or involuntary narco test is unconstitutional, holding that the Patna High Court’s order violated the safeguards laid down in Selvi v. State of Karnataka (2010). The court reaffirmed that such tests, without voluntary and informed consent, breach Article 20(3)’s protection against self-incrimination as well as the Right to Privacy under Article 21.
